MUBI & OTHER NORTH-EAST REFUGEES ON OUR CONSCIENCE...

Assalam alaikum to you all.
We have been quiet and docile for some times now and there are so many things that require our attention and attending too. Many people have high hopes, regards and confidence on the Foundation to do one thing or another about one development or another in the system. But alas, we have kept mum as if we do not exist anymore.
The question is why the non-chalant attitude? Is the humane part of us comatose or are we no more humanitarians? There are refugee camps surrounding us in every direction, yet The Kwandala Foundation has done nothing to alleviate the sufferings of these thousands and even millions of displaced persons? Whatever happened to the Kwandala Spirit? That spirit of giving even if it is just a Kwandala (N1:00 coin) for the relief of a distressed person.
Well, it is time to rise up and answer our true call...
10,496 Mubi Refugees and North-East Displaced Persons are asking "Where is THE KWANDALA FOUNDATION?"
What answer do we have for them?

UNIQUE KWANDALA! (A POEM)

Greetin's to you wherever you are

Be you at home, or in diaspora

There's only 1 you, we all believe

Many are coveteous, you choose to G.I.V.E.

Be you in the Americas or in Afrique

Like a very rare gem, you are unique

Could a free hand ever be same as a slave's?

A compassionate soul belonging to d'brave

Men have tried to surpass each other

But it is only the selfless heart that proper

Some are good to be seen of men

They can be counted, unique gentlemen

The sun shines light as well as warms

Sound of thunder gladdens, yet warns

Often two or more strive to win

But only one not less breasts it clean

And though most are designed to click

Yet you are the only spirit that's unique

You are worth much more than a billion dollar'

When a poor & a needy ends up getting your KWANDALA

A WIDOW FACES EVICTION

KWANDALA FOUNDATION TO THE RESCUE

H
er name is Zainab Asabe Ibrahim, a widow whose husband died recently living with 4 children to take care of, in a rented house located at Dan Marke, Hotoro Quarters of Nassarawa in Kano State.

Now while many of us take it for granted the turn of the New Year from 2008 to 2009, some less fortunate ones among us had sleepless nights with the change over. Wondering why? Well for one, they have their yearly house rent to pay or face the wrath of their landlord or his caretaker as the case may be. Such a fury could come with the threat of eviction from the much needed roof over a head. And when such a situation faces you with 3 little ones to cater for, it could be an experience best imagined. That is exactly what the widow Zainab Ibrahim and her four children had to contend with as the year 2009 unveils its glory.

After approaching some well to do individuals with the hope of being rescued, she was turned away to go back on her knee begging a landlord who was not willing to accommodate any excuse. Realizing that she could find herself, her 3 orphans and her loads in the street, she rushed over to a mosque on Saturday 10th January 2009 with the three kids in hand, aged between 3 and 8 and appealed to the congregation through the Imam to please come to her aid with the house rent.

Now a member of the Kwandala Foundation happens to be part of the faithfuls who had just observed their sunset prayer there and having witnessed what was collected for her being too small to salvage the distressful situation, offered on behalf of the Foundation to help her. So text messages were sent to various members of the organization that night and by the evening of the next day, after some interesting responses, the amount was raised and has since been donated to the woman and her 4 children, who are now safe and sound in the house. The landlord has been paid the annual house rent. To all who donated we prayed “May God Al-Mighty come to your rescue, when you will need it the most” Amen was what most of them wrote back to us.

This is how the Foundation touches our individual as well as collective lives either by collecting or by giving. So which role do you wish to play? There is ample room to accommodate any sound soul in The Kwandala Foundation.

K. FOUNDATION HOLDS ITS FIRST GENERAL MEETING 2009

J
ANUARY 1ST 2009 was the date chosen for The Kwandala Foundation to hold its first general meeting of the year 2009, for the first time in its new officially name Umar Dutse Muhammad Secretariat located at No. 5 Club Road by Independence Road cross junction in Bompai, Kano.

In attendance was Arc. Tijjani Muhammad Musa, its founding President who chaired the meeting. Umar Idris Azare, the Assistant Secretary General took note of proceedings, with Abdallah King Hussain Chairman Projects Committee freshly back from Saudi Arabia for the holy pilgrimage looking vibrant and enthusiastic like everybody else. Yusuf Ibrahim Yakasai, now a news correspondent with Freedom Radio was part of the gathering, which also has Muhammad Sunusy Showboy, Aminu Ado, a staff of FGGC Mijibir, Adamu Abubakar (40, 30), Auwal Musa Barista, Abba Ibrahim Chif and Zayyanu Abdullahi as part of the meeting.

Amidst lots of laughter, sharing of pleasantries and jokes, important matters arising were discussed and resolution reached. Among the issues treated include aids to Jos mayhem victims, computers (4No.) that are currently waiting to be donated by the Foundation to beneficiary schools and persons, meeting dates, need to reach out to all members and notify of revival of activities, importance of courtesy call to media house and solicit for their support, relocation of the Secretariat, condolence visit to the widow of Umar Dutse Muhammad and much more.

At the end of it all, it was clear to all that the K. Foundation’s mission is a duty upon all persons who have a tinge of care in their souls, a project that can not easily be abandoned, for it would surely bring a lot of goodness to those who are willing to sacrifice their time and effort to make life better for the less privileged in society. And because of one crisis or another that keep rising day in day out all around the world, it is an engagement that would require all hands to be on deck by all members and even volunteers. So pledges were reaffirmed by those present to remain steadfast in contributing their quota towards the success of the Foundation.

Apologies were tendered by Ibrahim Ubale Ajingi, Engr. Kabir Sale and AbdurRahman Baffa Yola for their inability to make it to the meeting/celebrative gathering of sort.

THE KWANDALA FOUNDATION RELOCATES

T
he Kwandala Foundation from 1st January 2009 has moved its Umar Dutse Muhammad Secretariat from its former Fairview House location No.14A Zaria Road, Gyadi-Gyadi New City Commercial Center to No. 5 Club Road by Independence Road cross junction next to SDY Filling Station in Bompai Quarters of Kano metropolis.

The Foundation Secretariat which was formally accommodated in a building at the former location by one of its senior members in the person of the Managing Director/ CEO of FAIRVEIW AVIATION CONSULTANCY LIMITED (FACOL) Late Alhaji Ibrahim Bala, who offered his office space free of charge after a decision by the organization’s Executive Council to change its operational base from its initial spot in Freedom Radio premises. The late landlord made good his promise to provide the non-governmental Kwandala with an office space throughout his blessed life time. May his kind soul rest in perfect peace, amen. With his demise, the new management of the property due to a refocusing of their priorities courteously informed the Foundation via an SMS text message that it would no longer be allowed to continue its operations in the former location.

Subsequent to this notification, the Foundation once again found it necessary to move its activities to a new office situated on the famous Club Road in Bompai Industrial Estate of Kano State. Henceforth, all transactions, dealings, contacts, correspondences etc with the Foundation are to be directed to this new address.

It is the Exco’s wish that this move would further bring the people’s foundation closer to all and thus serve the aim and objectives of all its members better. We hopefully look forward to welcoming you and whatever it is of good your kind heart might want to give to those in distress at their time of need.
