THE K. FOUNDATION LOSES A BOARD OF TRUSTEE MEMBER

UMAR DUTSE MUHAMMAD IS GONE

T
uesday 16th December 2008 marked a very sad day in the short history of The Kwandala Foundation. It was on this day that it lost one of the pillars upon which the foundation built its reputation and followings, in the person of the humble and very foresighted Umar Dutse Muhammad. A leader, a brother, a colleague and a distinguished gentleman, he was the first person to accept the burden of being the Foundation's Board of Trustees member.

The pioneer General Manager of the first independent radio station north of the Niger, late Umar Dutse, a broadcasting icon not just in the north but the whole of Nigeria, died at the young age of 49 years at a hospital in Egypt, where he went for yet another operation among a series for the much dreaded leukemia disease.

Yallabai as he was fondly addressed by most of his subordinates is highly regarded by all members of this organization for his contribution towards spreading the aim and objectives of The Kwandala Foundation to all nooks and corners of this state, country and hearts of the people via Freedom Radio airwaves because of his belief in the nobility of the Foundation's cause.

To further establish a flare for NGO enthusiasm throughout the state, he approved the creation of a special 1 hour live production on the radio station which featured all such non-profit organizations to introduce as well as explain their vision and mission statements. This not only made public some hitherto unknown NGOs in the state but catalyzed the creation of new ones.

Late Umar Dutse Muhammad was an exemplary leader, an honorable person and a man whose mere presence inspires all to do their best in whatever they believe themselves capable of achieving and this is what would be missed more than anything else about him. May his soul test in perfect peace amen.
